2004 Heart of the Hills Ice Fishing Contest
The fifth
annual “Heart of the Hills Ice Fishing Tournament”
was held February 8, 2004. Over 600
participants converged on icy Sheridan Lake to send fear
through the gills of local Northern and Perch. There was
over $10,000.00 in cash prizes as well as a 2004 Jeep
Wrangler given away. Of course the best part of the day was
the opportunity to raise over $12,000.00 for various local
Black Hills charities.
Paul Houder of Lead took the $5,000.00
first place prize in the Adult Northern Division. The
$5000.00 first place prize in the Adult Perch division went
to Corey Mossett.

A
random drawing was held at the end of the competition for
the 2004 Jeep Wrangler, all tournament participants were
eligible. Matt Kirk of Spearfish had not
caught a fish all day but was all smiles when his name was
called out as the new jeep owner.
We have
seen the interest and participation in this event grow
annually. We would like to thank the Rapid City
Journal, KNBN-TV, and the
Sheridan Lake Marina for their help in promoting
this great event.
We would also like to recognize and thank
our generous sponsors who gave so unselfishly. They
include: Common Cents, Coca-Cola, Deli Express,
Gillette Dairy, Lamar Outdoor Advertising, Outdoor Motor
Sports, Scheels All Sports, and Tropicana. Without
your gracious gifts this program could not succeed. Thank
You All!
